Instructional Leadership at Deele College
The Instructional Leadership (IL) programme is a collaborative professional learning initiative dedicated to fostering excellence in teaching and learning within Irish schools.
It focuses on “Exploring Instructional Intelligence,” a concept originally developed by Professor Barrie Bennett, which aims to enhance student outcomes by expanding the instructional repertoires and pedagogical skills of educators.
The programme provides teachers and school leaders with a framework to consciously select and apply specific teaching tactics and strategies, such as Mind Mapping, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Concept Attainment. By creating a shared language around pedagogy, the IL programme empowers staff to reflect on their practice and work together to create more engaging and effective classroom environments.
