The Leaving Certificate Applied is a distinct, self contained two year programme aimed at preparing students for adult and working life.
The programme has a strong vocational dimension which equips students with skills for the world of work. The two year programme consists of four half year blocks called sessions.
Students’ achievements are credited in each of these sessions which form part of their final award. Each course consists of a number of tasks or projects over the two years which they also gain credits for. Works experience is an important part of the Leaving Certificate Applied programme and is carried out on Wednesday each week.
