The Deele College community was filled with a profound sense of gratitude and spiritual renewal last Friday as we welcomed the newly installed Bishop of Raphoe, Most Reverend Niall Coll, to celebrate Holy Mass in St Eunan’s Church, Raphoe.
Our 6th Year and Transition Year students attended the mass in the chapel while the remaining students and staff joined the liturgy via the webcam. It was a momentous occasion for students and staff alike to host Bishop Coll so early in his episcopacy. His presence and his words offered a message of hope and community that resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.
The success of such a significant event is the result of dedicated teamwork and spirit. We would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to Bishop Niall Coll for his kindness in visiting us, his inspiring homily, and for the warmth he showed to our school community.
A special word of thanks to Ms. Creagh and Ms. Hegarty, whose meticulous planning and hard work ensured the liturgy was seamless and meaningful. To Ms. Bonner, Ms Stewart, Mr Austin Quinn and the school choir, thank you for the beautiful music that elevated the ceremony and touched the hearts of all present.
Following the Mass, Bishop Coll performed a very special ceremony by blessing our Garden of Remembrance. This garden holds a sacred place within the heart of our school. It is a quiet, beautiful space dedicated to the memory of our deceased students, staff, and loved ones. By blessing this garden, Bishop Coll has helped reinforce the garden as a sanctuary of peace
where our school family can go to reflect, pray, and cherish the legacy of those who are no longer with us but remain forever in our thoughts. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mr Gary Quinn and his team of helpers who went above and beyond preparing the Remembrance Garden.
As we look forward to Bishop Coll’s leadership in the Diocese of Raphoe, the Deele College community remains united in prayer for his ministry and deeply thankful for the memories created during this visit.
